Miracle

Miracle is one the most popular movies because it takes place in a historical moment for our great Nation. USA vs USSR and Coach Herb Brooks famous quote that was game changer and the one of the best in the century: “Great moments… are born from great opportunity. And that’s what you have here, tonight, boys. That’s what you’ve earned here tonight. One game. If we played ’em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It’s over. I’m sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw ’em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it.”

  1. The leader in this movie was Coach Herb Brooks. I think that he was the leader not only because he was the coach, also because he was able to do two important things. The first being that he was able to lead a much of college kids to wining an Olympic gold metal. Second he was able to lead this team past the USSR, which at this time was the dominant force in the hockey world. What made the victory sweeter was that it was done on American soil and it was in the middle of the cold war. I think that the moment in the movie that was the inspirational moment was right at the end of the first quarter what the USA tied the game at 2. This gave them hope going into the locker room and is when the really did believe that they could win.

    • I agree with your post I also believe that coach Brooks was the leader in the movie he was such an inspirational person and truly inspired me to do things that I never thought I would be able to do.

  2. The clear leader in this movie Miracle was Coach Herb Brooks. I think he was a leader because he pushed his team to overcome such obstacles. The USA being such underdogs in this movie and to come from nothing and because a gold medalist and beating the unbeaten soviets was simply amazing and a great historic event for the United States of America. I think one of the most inspirational part of the movie was when Coach Brooks made them do sprits on the ice for hours after a game until somebody said there name and that they played for the United States of America. I think this part of the movie was powerful and set an example to everyone that dreams do come true. It takes a passionate coach to bring a young college team and win the most prestigious medal of all time.

    • Alex, I agree with you on your post. Herb Brooks had a very important role on this team. As you mentioned in your post, USA was coming into the 1980 Winter Games as such an underdog team. Herb believed in this team and in result, they ended up making history by beating the Soviets in the semi finals and then moving on to defeat Finland in the finals for the Gold Metal which was phenomenal. I also liked that you mentioned the most inspirational part was the time when Eruzione yelled out “I play for United States of America” during the teams punishment after a loss. I think the team then realized how important this tournament was and that they had a chance to make history. Herb Brooks wanted this team to know that they were playing for their country.

  3. The movie Miracle is a very inspiring film which involved head coach Herb Brooks, under him Craig Patrick, and their 1980 Olympic United States men’s hockey team. This team made a remarkable run in the Winter Games held in Lake Placid, New York as they defeated the strong Soviet Union team in the semi finals making it one of the biggest upsets in sports history. Before playing the Soviets, Herb Brooks told his team “You’re meant to be here. This moment is yours. You’re meant to be here at this time.” Team USA then went on to defeat Finland in the finals for the Gold Metal. Herb Brooks, the leader in this film, believed in this team and did everything he can so that his team would be prepared as they played for their country. He took a group of college hockey players and turned them into champions.

  4. The leader in the film “Miracle” chronicling the 1980 Olympic United States men’s hockey team in my mind coach Herb Brooks. He was responsible for making the most important decisions and took all the blame for when the team did not show satisfactory results. He proved it by holding a steady hand, enforcing his role as coach, and finding ways to inspire his players so they would play up to their potential. the most significant part in my eyes was when he had his player run drills into the night until they understood they were not playing for themselves or glory, but for the United States of America.

  5. I agree with you on Herb Brooks is the leader in Miracle. He was the man behind lifting the team to the most impressive victory. Even though he is not the one on the ice, he takes responsibilty as a coach when his team was doing poorly. This shows his leadership skills as a coach to not let his players take the fall but to accept it for them.
